How Local Should "Answer the Call" Nominees Be?
Serving the Fayetteville community for six decades has been a privilege for us at Blanton’s Heating and Air. As part of our commitment to serve the community we love and appreciate, we are donating $500 each month during 2014 to a local organization making a difference in the lives of our neighbors with our “Answer the Call” campaign.
The response to the campaign so far has been phenomenal, but the question has come up: When we say “local organization”, how “local” do we mean?
How It Works
There are dozens of non-profits and charitable organizations working in local neighborhoods and communities in Fayetteville every day. While we see many of these wonderful programs in action, we know we might miss a few. We need your help to find the ones that are doing great things for our neighbors. Here’s how it works:
- Blanton’s customers nominate organizations for consideration by completing our online form.
- Staff members choose three nominees each month from the pool of recommendations.
- Website visitors vote for a charity to recognize.
- The monthly winner receives a $500 check from Blanton’s to show our appreciation for service.
We’ve already had some great nominations for our “Answer the Call” campaign this year. But for those who may have held back nominating an organization because you feared they were local enough, we want to explain a little more about what makes an organization “local”.
Local doesn’t mean an organization or group is from Fayetteville necessarily; it just means a group is active in the community, helping Fayetteville families and individuals. You could choose an organization, like Fayetteville Urban Ministry, which is from our community. They tutor kids, promote adult literacy and tackle beautification projects we can all enjoy.
Or you might nominate a national organization such as the Highland’s Red Cross Chapter that opens shelters when our crazy weather knocks out the power and helps civic-minded students earn scholarships through community service. The only requirement is that an organization serves our local community.
We Need Your Help
We can’t be everywhere; we need your help spotting organizations that are doing a standout job helping people in our town. Keep your eyes open. Watch for groups that are making a real difference in someone’s life. Then visit our website to nominate them as an “Answer the Call” star in Fayetteville. (If a group has helped you, a family member, or a friend, this is a terrific way to show your support and appreciation.)
Follow us on Facebook to keep up with nominees and winners throughout 2014. There’s still time to get your vote in for the April winner.
As always, we’ll be ready to answer the call when you need us.
