Signs You Need Heat Pump Repair

Don’t wait until you need major heat pump repairs to call for help. Here are subtle signs that you need heat pump repairs:

    • Ice on the pump: If you see ice on your pump in the summer or winter, it’s a sign that the refrigerant is condensing on the outside coil.
    • Not heating or cooling: This is a sign your heat pump refrigerant is low, leaking, or your heat pump is dirty or has faulty valves.
    • Odd noises: Your heat pump should make some noise when it runs. If it’s making loud, banging noises, you have a mechanical problem with your pump.
    • Doesn’t change modes: If your heat pump is stuck in one mode, you may have a faulty reversing valve.
    • Higher bills: Creeping electric bills could mean your heat pump is working harder to do its job — another sign that something is broken within the pump.

I called Blanton's because our new heater hasn't been keeping up with the cold weather. They had a technician, David, out within a few hours. He diagnosed the problem and ordered the needed part. He was professional and polite. I've never had a bad experience with Blanton.

We had an issue with our heat exchanger that was installed 6 months ago. We weren't getting heat. The technician, Chase Westmoreland, did a thorough inspection and found that the heat strips weren't connected. After connecting them we started getting a good supply of hot air. Because the unit was still under warranty the repair didn't cost us anything. Good job Chase.
